Peter Townend & James Fitness

Peter Townend, founder of the Roof Rack Centre, Canoe & Kayak and the Auckland Kayaking School, is the director of these companies. With over 20 years in business, he is dedicated to building relationships and giving great service and advice. Always happy to talk and use his extensive business background to help in anyway he can.

Pete started out as a salesman for an Aluminium Joinery business, and was soon out on his own installing, servicing aluminium joinery and security locks.

He soon found kayaking was his thing and opened the Auckland Kayaking School, which later morphed into Canoe and Kayak. It was in these early days he realised thet Roof Racks were an important part of any sportsmans life and was finding solutions to carrying multiple kayaks and/ or bikes on car roofs.

James Fitness, Marketing Manager, has been in the marine industry for over 20 years. As a yacht rigger, in Britain, he was continuously over coming transport problems with some very long loads.

Having moved back to NZ, he found himself involved with Canoe & Kayak and the Roof Rack Centre. James has  a wealth of knowledge and is always ready to offer helpful advice.
